A Learning Day with the Students of Oakbuds School, Ramnagar! 🌟

At Advacad, we believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge but also about inspiring young minds to explore, innovate, and excel. Our recent visit to Oakbuds School, Ramnagar, was a testament to this belief. Co-founders Pradeep K Rao and Pankaj Chamoli had the privilege of engaging with the bright students of Oakbuds in a series of interactive sessions that were both enlightening and enjoyable. 🧠✨

The Power of Visualization in Math

One of the core principles we emphasize at Advacad is the power of visualization in learning, especially in mathematics. Visualization helps students create mental images of mathematical concepts, making it easier for them to understand and solve problems. During our sessions, we introduced the students to the fundamentals of visualization using the abacus, a tool that has been used for centuries to teach arithmetic.

Interactive Sessions with Advacad

Both of our mentors (Pradeep Rao and Pankaj Chamoli) led the sessions with great enthusiasm, starting with the basics of the abacus. They explained the importance of finger movements in using the abacus, demonstrating how each movement corresponds to a specific mathematical operation. This hands-on approach allowed the students to grasp the concepts quickly and effectively.

Next, we introduced the concept of a virtual abacus. This innovative technique involves visualizing an abacus in the mind, complete with beads that can be moved to perform calculations. By practicing this method, students can enhance their mental math skills, enabling them to solve problems without the need for a physical abacus. This not only improves their calculation speed but also boosts their confidence in handling numbers.

Engaging Young Minds

The response from the students was overwhelmingly positive. They were eager to learn and participate, asking insightful questions and practicing the techniques with enthusiasm. The interactive nature of the sessions ensured that every student was engaged and actively involved in the learning process. It was heartening to see the excitement in their eyes as they discovered new ways to make math fun and easy.

The Impact of Visualization

By the end of the day, the students had a newfound appreciation for mathematics. They realized that with the right tools and techniques, math could be a subject of creativity and enjoyment rather than fear and frustration. The ability to visualize mathematical concepts and perform mental calculations gave them a sense of accomplishment and confidence that will serve them well in their academic journey and beyond.

Highlights of the Day

The highlights of the day were captured in a video that showcases the enthusiasm and joy of the students as they learned from Pradeep and Pankaj. The video is a testament to the power of innovative teaching methods and the positive impact they can have on young minds. Watching the students’ faces light up as they mastered new skills was truly rewarding.

Conclusion

Our team’s visit to Oakbuds School, Ramnagar, was a memorable and transformative experience for both the students and us at Advacad. It reinforced our belief in the importance of making learning interactive and enjoyable. By teaching students the fundamentals of visualization and the use of the abacus, we have equipped them with valuable skills that will serve them well in their academic journey and beyond.

We are grateful to the staff and students of Oakbuds School for their warm welcome and enthusiastic participation. We look forward to more such opportunities to inspire and educate young minds.
